Humans wear Pachamama

Did you know that the fashion industry is 10% responsible for global pollution? As lovers and protectors of the Pachamama we are constantly looking for the way how we can reduce our impact on the earth. In fashion we can start changing this.

Our culture pushes us to novelty; to the changing fashion trends, therefore to promote fast-fashion. But today we have so many tools at our fingertips and we have the power of choice.

There are many ways that we can contribute to start changing this consuming culture. Let’s start with our closets!

What to do with the clothes that I no longer want and do not go with my style?

Ask yourself if the fabric or pattern you like and you can transform it with a seamstress instead of buying a new one. For inspiration you can follow @danielapazmino_imagen on instagram, an Ecuadorian stylist with many tips to transform your clothes.

Another way to be creative with our clothes is to wear and style them in different ways. Basic garments such as shirts and T-shirts can be worn in many ways, starting with a knot or the use of different accessories.

Also, fashion is cyclical. The new trends are inspired by the past, adjusting to the canons of this season. Have you already checked the closet of your mother, your father or your grandmother? You will probably find a sweater or vest that you feel comfortable with and go perfect with your style.

Another easy, economical and sustainable way is to exchange clothes with your friends. There have been fairs to carry out these exchanges. Another option is to buy second-hand clothes or in vintage stores where you will find unique options.

If we are going to buy, there are a lot of brands that worry about the care of our Pachamama, where they use completely sustainable materials and production techniques; as organic, recycled and naturally dyed fabrics. It is a matter of investigating the ethics behind each brand and consistency with its discourse.

Finally, we must not forget that buying local will always be a better option for our environment and for our people. This is how we take care of our planet and buy responsibly, supporting small businesses on our lands!
